JV1 Head Coach: Bob Komanec
Coach Komanec:
I am currently in my ninth year of coaching basketball in the Medford School District. In the past I have helped with the Gilman boys Varsity and Junior Varsity teams, Medford boys JV2, and I now coach the Medford boys JV1 team. I enjoy coaching because I love sharing my passion for the sport with others. I think basketball is the greatest sport and it teaches players many great things that they can apply to life. I enjoy getting to know all the players, understanding where they come from as young adults, and where they see themselves in the upcoming years of their lives. A favorite coaching memory of mine was in my 1st year when our team played Lakeland and beat a very quick and physical team. The amount of heart and the no quit attitude that the guys showed in this game was remarkable. They played hard, played smart, and played together for 32 minutes. The energy the 10 guys showed in this game was the best I had seen all season and the momentum carried us until the end of the season. In 2011, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stout with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. After college my wife and I moved to Edgerton, WI and I found a job teaching kindergarten in Marshall, WI. I taught kindergarten for 2 years in Marshall. In these 2 years my wife and I had our 1st son, Brantley. The addition of our son made us realize we wanted to be closer to our families and we started looking for jobs in the Medford area. It didn't take long for my wife and I to find employment opportunities in the area. I was offered a position teaching kindergarten at MAES. Since being employed I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade. While in Medford my wife and I have welcomed our first daughter, Landree, our 2nd son, Finley, and 2nd daughter, Tilly. In my free time I enjoy doing anything outdoors. I like to fish, bow and rifle hunt, camp, and spend time with my family. |
